Business Resources

If you are running a small business or a home-based business, you are unlikely to have access to the same resources available to your bigger counterparts. Don't despair, because there is a wealth of information available on the web or in email form, and a lot of it is free.

On this page we have summarised some of the resources and tips we have found useful running our business. Over time we will be adding bits that come across our desk and may be of use to others. Their Career resources Page has a category for "self-employed", under Special Interests. Follow this [link] to information on "working for yourself" and "home-based work". Topics range from funding a new small business, to creating your own job, planning horrors to avoid, and choosing a business structure.

An independent site serving home business and small business since 2000. Provides access to a variety of online and offline resources, a database of articles by home business owners and even a virtual space to discuss issues, ideas and challenges with other home businesses. Free subscription to email newsletter on their page.

»  The National Business Review
Covers a range of topics on-line from Business today, Markets, and Media, to World News, Arts and Sports. You can subscribe to NBR Email Messenger service (weekly Friday news feeds).

Features daily news updates covering Management, Industry News, Business Services, Small Business. You can get the latest business news and information from New Zealand and around the world delivered direct to your Inbox every Thursday.

Useful resource for tips and courses on sales, marketing, business development, CRM, time management and referral strategies using everyday tools. »  Yellow Pages The on-line Yellow Pages are a useful resource to locate businesses (and to check if yours is correctly listed!). The YellowBiz® monthly newsletter from Yellow Pages® is full of tips, advice and success stories.

The New Zealand Herald on-line provides news snippets in categories ranging from National and World News, to Business, Sport, Lifestyle and Leisure, and Science and Technology. You can subscribe to The NZ Herald Watch service, a convenient way to keep up with the news and monitor NZ Herald classified advertisements, getting news feeds by email either at 8:30am or 1:30pm (Monday to Friday).
